The History of ACT
Founded in 1988, Applied Computer Technologies has built a strong reputation for providing technological serivces while controlling costs for our customer.   In 1995, ACT entered the Internet services business at the demand of our customers.  The Internet was just blossoming at that time and many companies were experiencing problems with providers that were learning "on the fly" and using their customers as training centers.  Because we had already developed a reputation for our "customer first" attitude, when customers experienced problems with these new and inexperienced companies they turned to us to make things right.  We've tried to maintain a personal touch with our clients and always protect their interests.

Applied Computer Technologies is first and foremost a technology company that provides network implementation and support services.  Whether you need to connect local networks together from across the U.S. or a simple dial-up account for your home.  ACT has the experience of install hundreds of networks, both local and wide-area.  Wireless or wire-based we can show the way to implement the right solution in the most affordable manner.

FamilySmart was introduced in 1998 as a way for parents to protect their families from inappropriate content on the Internet.  FamilySmart blocks from view Internet content that runs contrary to community standards.  As the reputation of FamilySmart spread, schools and churches began demanding content filters for their students and employees.  ACT answered that demand with filtering services for those organizations and very affordable prices.

In 2000, ACT partnered with national DSL providers to provide those services with a personal touch and low, discount prices across the United States and today we offer high-speed DSL to over 600 cities in the United States.

In 2002, ACT acquired 2Fords Network North near Corpus Christi, Texas. one of the largest local Internet providers in the region.  Renamed Pelican Coast Internet in honor of the famous birds that inhabit the gulf coast, this division provides unfiltered Internet access to customers in that region.

Through all that time ACT has maintained a reputation of value-based products combined with personalized service.  While many Internet companies have cut back on services or shipped jobs overseas, ACT has maintained local offices with American workers to take care of our customers as we always have - with friendly, personalized service to provide value to our customers.
