Changing Internet Explorer Security and Privacy Settings

Changing your Internet Explorer Security and Privacy settings can reduce your exposure to Internet intrusions and limit spyware that can effect the performance of your computer, generate annoying pop-up ads and track your browsing habits.  Care should be taken to avoid tightening your settings too much, though, as it may stop legitimate web site functions such as those at banks, financial sites and web pages that require membership information or authentication to access them.  We strongly suggest that you avoid using the highest settings as it may severely impact your ability to browse the Internet easily.

Step 1 - Open Internet Explorer and select the TOOLS Pull-down menu

Step 2 -  Select the SECURITY tab and adjust your security setting by raising or lowering the slider bar.

Although there are higher security settings, MEDIUM will allow reasonable security without impacting functional performance of your browser.

Step 3 - Select the PRIVACY tab and adjust the slider bar
Setting the slider bar to Medium High will block block some cookies.
The Medium setting will warn you of cookie downloads.

Step 4 - Remember to Click the APPLY button to save your settings
